From Bride to Wedding Planner to Bride and everything in between!

As a wedding planner, it’s my job to know the Bride and Groom and what they want on their wedding day. I embody their style, their family dynamics, and give them the push they need to have their day their way! I’m the little cheerleader on the side screaming for joy, but when we walk off from practice, I have notes on what we still need to work on.

As you can imagine, this job is very personal. I hear it all from couples, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This day is probably the most special day in their lives, and they choose me to be by their side through the process!

Since your wedding planner is someone so important in the planning process, I wasn’t going to pick just anyone to work with me. I interviewed countless planners, all offering around the same services for drastically different prices! I was in awe of the lack of communication, lack of professionalism, and cost of everything! When in the back of my mind I’m thinking, “I can do all this, I don’t need someone.” Let me stop you right there, YES YOU DO! Life happens, on top of wedding showers, bachelorette parties, work, moving, and other fun events.

You want someone you could have as a friend, someone who has a strong personality and isn’t afraid to talk to your aunt Becky to leave the photo display alone. This is not your wedding, Becky!

So in search of my special wedding planner, I hired Sarah W. here at Monarch. If you don’t know, she is my now husband's, best friends, wife (still with me?). I have known her for about four years when she joined the team. We were not best friends (then), but we always enjoyed each other when the boys would get together. She started with us as an assistant planner, then became our social media manager, and now she is one of our Lead Planners. Monarch grew quickly and Sarah has been by my side rocking it with me. I shortly realized I had to have her, but her husband was one of our groomsmen… I didn’t want Sarah to have to ‘work’ my wedding! With her personality, she said I wouldn’t have it any other way. We had our assistant Kayla join Sarah and run the show!

It was perfect… well sort of.

To start, when we arrived at the church, all the doors were locked. The door that was supposed to be opened early for us to arrive, was not open.

Reason One to have a planner - Sarah and Kayla ran around the whole building to every door checking to see which one was open. They finally found the right door, after checking all seven doors!

Then my father forgot his tux and didn’t realize it until the morning of my wedding. He lived two hours away from our venue. He had to have my brother’s, friend’s, mom drive the two hours. It arrived just in time, five minutes before the ceremony to be exact.

Reason Two to have a planner - They didn’t tell me until my dad was in his suit and ready to walk down the aisle.

You won’t believe this… during our ceremony, my sister who was a bridesmaid, fainted!! Luckily she felt it coming and sat down first, but she couldn’t help the moaning and groaning after fainting. It was something I have never seen before! So glad it happened on my wedding day!

Reason Three to have a planner - Sarah and Kayla grabbed a wheelchair, and my dad helped her in it. Then Sarah had to call 911. During this time, Conor grabbed my hand and gave me a look, like, they got this. We can’t do anything. The show continued.

Then during family photos, I don’t know where my family went… You would think everyone would stay around for pictures, nope! There is no bar near the photos.

Reason Four to have a planner - I didn’t have to run around and grab any family members, the girls took care of that.

Last but not least, we had a guest drink three Makers on the rocks in an hour… He was not doing well when dinner started.

Reason Five to have a planner - Sarah was talking with the bartender and venue manager and handled the whole situation. I just sat back and watched!

As soon as I noticed something on our wedding day, it was already taken care of. So long story short, even a Wedding Planner needs a Wedding Planner!
